Hi, I'm Banambara
PATTACHITRA ARTIST | CULTURAL STORYTELLER | HERITAGE PRESERVER | TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMAN | FOLK ART ENTHUSIAST | SPIRITUAL ARTIST
Bringing Ancient Stories and The Divine Jagannath Culture To Life Through Art
I am Banambara Mohapatra, a traditional Pattachitra artist from Chasapada village, Chandanpur, Puri, Odisha. For as long as I can remember, art has been my soul’s calling. Born into a community where this ancient craft thrives, I have dedicated my life to preserving and perfecting the intricate techniques of Pattachitra painting—a timeless tradition that tells stories of gods, legends, and cultural heritage.

Heritage of Odisha: A Legacy of Art, Culture, and Traditions
Odisha, once the heart of the mighty kalinga empire, carries a rich legacy shaped by centuries of art, architecture, and spiritual traditions. The echoes of kalinga’s grandeur are visible in architectural marvels like the konark sun temple (କୋଣାର୍କ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ମନ୍ଦିର) and the sacred jagannath temple (ଶ୍ରୀଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ମନ୍ଦିର, ପୁରୀ), reflecting the architectural brilliance of ancient times.
odisha’s classical dance form, odissi (ଓଡ଼ିଶୀ ନୃତ୍ୟ), along with folk dances like chhau (ଛଉ) and ghumura (ଘୁମୁରା), showcases its artistic brilliance. Festivals like Rath yatra (ରଥଯାତ୍ରା) and durga puja (ଦୁର୍ଗାପୂଜା) highlight its spiritual essence, while its diverse tribal communities contribute to its cultural vibrancy.
